S.B. 894 Summary

• Transfers the Office of Wellness and Resilience from the Office of the Governor to the Department of Human Services effective July 1, 2025.

• Extends the Trauma-Informed Care Task Force dissolution date from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025, and designates the task force to serve as an advisory board to the Office of Wellness and Resilience until dissolution.

• Establishes a permanent Wellness and Resilience Advisory Board within the Department of Human Services with representation from state departments, judiciary, University of Hawaii, and private sector stakeholders.

• Authorizes the Office of Wellness and Resilience to address wellness and resilience issues through cross-agency coordination, identify funding solutions from federal and private sources, and create a social determinants of health dashboard.

• Requires annual reporting to the legislature on office activities, funds received, community engagement, and recommendations regarding trauma-informed care implementation and policy.
