Request the University of Hawaii to study the feasibility of redeveloping land at Tax Map Key (1) 2-8-015:001 adjacent to the University of Hawaii at Manoa campus into workforce housing and university-affiliated uses.

Require the study to include a conceptual development plan with a market study and steps needed for development of the parcel.

Direct the University of Hawaii to submit a report of findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2025 Regular Session convenes.

Background indicates Hawaii needs approximately 26,000 to 47,000 new housing units before 2030 to address the housing shortage and retain residents.

The specified parcel currently houses the College of Education and University of Hawaii Childcare Center, which are planned to relocate under existing University plans.
