Requests convening of a Sunset Memorial Park Working Group to study potential solutions and develop a long-term management plan for the cemetery in Pearl City, Oahu, which has suffered years of neglect, property damage, vandalism, and security issues.

Working Group membership includes one Senate member (Co-Chairperson), one House member (Co-Chairperson), Director of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Comptroller, Attorney General, one Pearl City Neighborhood Board member, and one Friends of Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery member.

Working Group directed to study legal and physical issues at the cemetery and follow up with the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs on developments since Act 193 was enacted in 2018.

Requires Working Group to submit report with findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2024 Regular Session convenes.

References Act 193 (2018), which required the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs to develop short-term and long-term strategies for cemetery maintenance; cemetery property has been in legal limbo since the owner company involuntarily dissolved in 2006 and the owner passed away in 2011.
