Requests the Department of Public Safety submit a report to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2024 Regular Session detailing the process for assisting inmates in obtaining identification cards.

Report must include the number of persons released since 2022, how many received identification cards with department assistance, and how many received free versus charged cards.

Report must specify any charges assessed for identification cards, the criteria necessary to obtain them, and an accounting of funding used for the program.

Department must post the report on its public website and provide a copy to the Hawaii Correctional System Oversight Commission for posting on its website.

References prior appropriations of $25,000 in 2016 and $100,000 in 2022 to the Department of Public Safety for identification card programs to support inmate reentry into communities.
