Requests Department of Public Safety submit a report by 20 days prior to the 2024 Regular Session detailing its process for assisting inmates in obtaining identification cards.

Report must include the number of persons released since 2022, number released with assistance-obtained identification cards, number receiving free cards, and number charged for cards with reasons.

Report must detail charges assessed for identification cards, criteria necessary to obtain valid identification, and an accounting of funding used for the identification card assistance program.

Department must post the report on its publicly available website and provide a copy to the Hawaii Correctional System Oversight Commission for posting on its website.

Resolution references $25,000 appropriated in 2016 and $100,000 appropriated in 2022 by the Legislature for the identification card program.
