Governor is requested to convene a task force to examine and make recommendations on the existing procedures for adopting the state building code

Task force is requested to consider whether the current state building code adoption process is effective and relevant, whether county building codes should be eliminated in favor of a single statewide code, and examine the financial impacts on construction and housing prices

Task force composition includes the Governor (as chairperson), State Comptroller, county planning directors from all four counties, one House member, one Senate member, and representatives from construction industry associations (Building Industry Association of Hawaii, General Contractors Association of Hawaii, Subcontractors Association of Hawaii, and NAIOP Hawaii)

Governor and Department of Accounting and General Services are requested to provide administrative support to the task force

Task force is requested to submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days prior to the 2025 Regular Session
