HB 1094 - Methadone Treatment Programs

• Amends Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 329-40(b)(7) to allow methadone take-home doses to not exceed the maximum days of supply allowable under federal law instead of the previous fourteen-day supply limit.

• Permits medical directors of methadone treatment programs to dispense take-home doses in accordance with federal regulations (Title 21 CFR Part 291 and Title 42 CFR Part 8) without being restricted to a fixed fourteen-day maximum.

• Maintains the existing requirement that take-home doses shall not exceed the maximum amount that would allow a patient to be away from the clinic for dosing for more than two weeks unless authorized by state authority.

• Makes minor grammatical corrections, changing "which" to "that" in the definition of "state authority."

• Takes effect upon approval.
