Amends Chapter 286 of Hawaii Revised Statutes to allow shipping container chassis with valid out-of-state vehicle registration to obtain a Hawaii certificate of safety inspection and safety inspection decal under section 286-209.

Permits out-of-state registration for shipping container chassis to remain valid in Hawaii until expiration in the issuing state, provided the chassis is used solely for transporting shipping containers.

If a shipping container chassis obtains a Hawaii safety inspection certificate, the out-of-state registration becomes valid in Hawaii for one year from the date of the vehicle safety inspection.

Takes effect upon approval.
