Authorizes out-of-state pharmacies to transfer prescription information to Hawaii pharmacies for the initial fill of prescriptions, in addition to refills.

Amends Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 328-17.6(b) to explicitly permit out-of-state pharmacies to transfer prescription information for "filling or refilling purposes."

Requires Hawaii pharmacists to advise patients that their original out-of-state prescription may be canceled and to record all required prescription information before dispensing a transferred prescription.

Allows Hawaii pharmacists to fill acute medications (such as antibiotics) for out-of-state visitors by receiving prescription transfers from out-of-state pharmacies, eliminating the need to contact the prescribing practitioner for a verbal order.

Takes effect July 1, 3000.
