HI HB1901

Amends the definition of "historic property" to include heiaus and underwater sites, and qualifies properties as historic if they are at least 50 years old and meet Hawaii register criteria or have cultural significance to Native Hawaiians or ethnic groups, or if they are at least 100 years old.

Exempts state projects on state-owned buildings from the Department of Land and Natural Resources historic preservation review unless the property is more than 100 years old, listed on the Hawaii or National Register of Historic Places, or has a pending application for such listing.

Requires the Department of Accounting and General Services to conduct a comprehensive survey and inventory of all state-owned buildings by December 1, 2029, to evaluate and nominate potentially eligible properties for listing on the Hawaii or National Register of Historic Places.

Appropriates funds from general revenues for fiscal year 2024-2025 to the Department of Accounting and General Services for conducting the comprehensive survey and inventory (specific amount to be determined).

Takes effect on July 1, 3000.
