Requires lease extensions approved by the Board of Land and Natural Resources to be drafted using the most current approved lease form, incorporating current leasing practices and policies.

Establishes that when a lease extension creates a conflict between updated lease terms and existing lease terms, the updated terms authorized under chapter 171, Hawaii Revised Statutes shall control.

Applies to all leases issued under chapter 171, regardless of whether they were issued by public auction or direct negotiation.

Allows the board to impose a removal bond as part of extended leases to ensure compliance with current leasing standards.

Takes effect upon approval and does not affect rights, duties, or fully executed leases or extensions that existed before the effective date.
