HI HB2525

Amends Hawaii Revised Statutes section 281-39.5 to apply restrictions on liquor licenses to both new issuances and renewals of existing licenses for on-site sale and consumption.

Allows the Liquor Commission or county licensing agency to deny renewal of liquor licenses upon receipt of sufficient protests from registered voters within 500 feet of the establishment.

Removes the current exemption that allows existing liquor establishments to renew their licenses without being subject to the same restrictions that apply to new license applications.

Takes effect upon approval and does not affect rights, duties, or proceedings that began before the bill's effective date.
