HB 2575 Summary

• Establishes a construction trades workforce development program in the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations to develop and implement a construction trades career pathway program for high school students.

• Program shall develop curriculum aligned with national certification standards, authorize industry professionals to teach classes, assist schools in establishing trade classrooms and workshops, and facilitate internship opportunities with construction companies.

• Program may accept private funding for classroom and equipment renovations, enter into memoranda of agreement with private funders who may have input on trades offered, curriculum development, and internship selection.

• Director shall submit annual reports to the legislature on program status, findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation no later than twenty days before each regular session.

• Appropriates funds from general revenues for fiscal year 2024-2025 with an expenditure ceiling override; takes effect July 1, 2024.
