H.B. 2606 Summary

• Prohibits transient accommodations brokers and other persons or entities from offering, listing, advertising, or displaying rental rates that exclude resort fees required for furnishing transient accommodations.

• Requires all applicable government-imposed taxes and fees on stays to be included in the total price displayed before a consumer reserves transient accommodations.

• Establishes a civil penalty not exceeding $10,000 for each violation of these transparency requirements, enforceable by the Attorney General or county prosecuting attorneys.

• Applies to all transient accommodations distribution channels including hotels, motels, short-term rentals, online travel agencies, metasearch sites, and short-term rental platforms.

• Takes effect January 1, 2025.
