HB2756 Summary

• Creates a new bargaining unit (16) for employees of the City and County of Honolulu's emergency services department, separate from the existing institutional, health, and correctional workers bargaining unit (10).

• Excludes Honolulu emergency services department employees from bargaining unit (10) by amending Section 89-6, Hawaii Revised Statutes.

• Updates Section 89-11 to include the new bargaining unit (16) in the impasse resolution procedures for collective bargaining disputes.

• Preserves all existing rights, benefits, and privileges of Honolulu emergency services department employees during the transition, including protection under chapters 76, 78, 87A, and 88, with no break in service.

• Maintains current collective bargaining agreements for affected employees until a new agreement is ratified for bargaining unit (16).
