HI HB41

Requires all businesses engaging in retail sale of goods to display the amount of general excise tax owed in any price display or tag for those goods.

Establishes violation of the price transparency requirement as an unfair or deceptive act or practice under Hawaii's consumer protection laws (section 480-2).

Adds failure to include general excise tax amount in price displays as a deceptive trade practice under section 481A-3(a)(12).

Takes effect January 1, 2024.
