Establishes a task force to review Hawaii's food security and food safety practices and ensure compliance with the federal Food Safety Modernization Act for all imported meat, produce, and dairy products from source to point of sale.

Task force shall develop recommendations to prevent imported foods and brands from misleading consumers through packaging, advertising, or labeling that falsely implies Hawaiian origin or locally-grown qualities.

Task force membership includes the director of health, two senate members selected by the senate president, two house committee chairpersons (agriculture & food systems, and health & homelessness), one University of Hawaii professor, and two private business owners in food distribution.

Task force members serve without compensation and shall receive administrative support from the department of health.

Task force must submit findings and recommendations to the legislature no later than 20 days before the 2024 regular session convenes and is dissolved on June 30, 2024.
