Amends Hawaii Revised Statutes section 107-28 to allow counties to adopt a county building code distinct from the Hawaii state building codes for single-family dwellings, additional dwelling units, duplexes, and non-commercial structures.

The county-specific building code applies to structures with an unspecified square footage limit of living area (blank in bill text).

Counties may adopt their own codes without council approval, provided the adoption complies with section 46-1.5(13).

Bill takes effect on June 30, 3000, and automatically sunsets on June 30, 2026, at which time the original statute language is reenacted.
