State chief operating officer must have experience in government, business, and economic development operations.

Officer assists the governor by developing and recommending policies and programs to benefit businesses and increase economic development.

Officer coordinates the governor's business and economic development policies with the department of business, economic development, and tourism.

Appropriation provided for one full-time equivalent position for fiscal years 2023-2024 and 2024-2025, with officer included in state employees' retirement system and applicable employee benefit programs.
