Request the University of Hawaii to conduct a feasibility study on using mycopesticides (fungal-based biocontrol agents) to control little fire ants (Wasmannia auropunctata), an invasive species from South America that poses threats to public safety, environment, and health in Hawaii.

Study must identify which mycopesticide species, if any, could effectively control little fire ants and evaluate potential advantages compared to current control methods, including factors related to cost, human health, and environmental health.

Study must assess potential negative impacts of mycopesticides on Hawaii's native ecosystem before any introduction.

University of Hawaii must submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than 20 days before the 2025 Regular Session convenes.

Certified copies to be sent to the President of the University of Hawaii, Chairperson of the Board of Agriculture, and Research Manager of the Hawaii Ant Lab.
