H.R. 36 Summary

• Request the Department of Land and Natural Resources to convene a working group to inform the public about options for addressing Hawaii's feral chicken population.

• Working group membership includes the Chairperson of the Board of Land and Natural Resources (chair), Board of Agriculture Chairperson, Director of Health, one Senate member, one House member, Senate and House Directors of Communications, and Honolulu Department of Customer Services Director.

• Working group to invite representatives from The Nature Conservancy and Sandwich Isle Pest Solutions to participate.

• Identify all current solutions available including trapping, contraceptives, home remedies, and sanctuaries, and determine the most effective means of communicating information to the public.

• Submit a report with findings and recommendations to the Legislature no later than 20 days before the 2025 Regular Session convenes.
