HI SB1082

Requires all state- and privately-owned parking lots with public paid parking spaces to accept credit card and debit card payments effective January 1, 2025.

Mandates all state- and privately-owned parking meters collecting public parking fees be maintained in working order to accept credit card and debit card payments.

Allows parking lots and meters to continue accepting cash payments in addition to card payments.

Requires the Department of Accounting and General Services and all four counties to submit implementation progress reports to the legislature before each regular session beginning in 2024.

Establishes effective date of July 1, 2050, despite January 1, 2025 implementation date for the parking payment requirements.
