HI SB1422

Establishes a new class C felony offense for knowingly and willfully using or making false statements, entries, or documents in matters within the jurisdiction of the executive, legislative, judicial branch of the State, or any county.

Prohibits persons convicted of this offense from being eligible for deferred acceptance of guilty plea or nolo contendere plea under chapter 853.

Applies to falsifying material facts, making materially false statements or representations, or using false writings or documents containing false statements.

Exempts parties and counsel in judicial proceedings from prosecution for statements submitted to judges or magistrates, and limits application to legislative matters to administrative matters and legislative investigations or reviews.

Disqualifies persons convicted of this offense from holding elective public office for ten years from the date of conviction.
