Require the Department of Public Safety (or successor Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation) to install digital cameras in all guard control rooms at any correctional center housing women by July 1, 2024.

Mandate sufficient camera coverage to ensure the health and safety of staff and inmates, with proper documentation and preservation of video evidence related to staff misconduct, inmate abuse, or criminal activity.

Appropriate funds from general revenues for fiscal years 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 to purchase and install the digital cameras (specific dollar amount left blank in the bill text).

Transfer all responsibilities and appropriations from the Department of Public Safety to the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation effective January 1, 2024.

Bill takes effect July 1, 2050.
