Amends Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 92-5(a) to add a new subsection (9) allowing boards subject to state open meetings law to hold closed meetings for the purpose of providing training to new and current board members.

Adds training as an additional permitted purpose for closed public agency board meetings, joining existing allowed purposes such as personnel matters, legal consultation, and discussions of confidential information.

Takes effect on July 1, 2024.
