S.B. 2289 Summary

• Amends Section 326-25.5, Hawaii Revised Statutes, to expand the Department of Health's annual reporting requirements on Kalaupapa Settlement to the legislature

• Adds two new reporting requirements: details on the permanent transfer of Department powers and duties over Kalaupapa to other governmental or qualified non-governmental entities, and documentation of the Department's engagement efforts with Molokai community groups including Ka Ohana O Kalaupapa

• Requires the Governor to issue a proclamation affirming the completion date of the transfer and deliver a copy to the Revisor of Statutes

• Sunsets the amended reporting requirements on the first June 30 after the Revisor of Statutes receives the Governor's proclamation confirming transfer completion, at which point the original statute will be restored
