Requires the Department of Education to assign school resource officers or guards registered under chapter 463 to each public elementary school and state prekindergarten program during hours when students are present on campus.

Department must consider school campus size, number of students, and other relevant safety factors when determining how many officers or guards to assign to each facility.

Department of Education shall seek federal grants to cover costs associated with hiring school resource officers and registered guards.

Appropriates unspecified general revenue funds for fiscal years 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 to provide school resource officers and guards at public elementary schools and state prekindergarten programs.

Act becomes effective July 1, 2023.
