SB 2526 Summary

• Requires the Technology Services Consolidation Working Group to assist the Office of Enterprise Technology Services in inventorying and categorizing the business criticality of each major state information technology system or data set (excluding University of Hawaii, Department of Education, and Hawaii Health Systems Corporation).

• Mandates that consolidated state information technology data be housed at a facility with redundant power generation, fuel storage, power distribution paths, cooling systems, and heat exchange distribution paths to ensure continued operation if one system fails.

• Requires the working group to determine appropriate data center or hosting facility requirements based on the business criticality level of each system or data set.

• Extends the working group's dissolution date from December 31, 2023 to June 30, 2026, and requires preliminary status reports to the legislature in 2023 and 2025, with full reports in 2024 and 2026.

• Takes effect July 1, 3000.
