Removes the requirement that a patient's provider must have examined the patient before signing a Provider Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment (POLST) form.

Allows licensed physicians, physician assistants, and advanced practice registered nurses to sign POLST forms without a face-to-face encounter with the patient.

Addresses barriers to timely POLST completion, particularly for hospice patients with median stays of 21 days who may not meet Medicare's six-month face-to-face encounter requirement.

Updates the definition of "patient's provider" in Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 327K-1 by striking language requiring patient examination.

Takes effect upon approval.
