S.B. 2672 Summary

• Adds new section to Chapter 312, Hawaii Revised Statutes authorizing the state librarian to decline reviewing library materials if the item was previously reviewed in good faith by the Hawaii State Public Library System.

• State librarian may decline review when the current request's basis is duplicative or substantially similar to a prior review's basis.

• State librarian may decline review if the prior review response was issued within one calendar year of the current request date.

• State librarian may decline review if they determine in their sole discretion that the library's response to the current request is unlikely to differ from the prior response.

• Act takes effect upon approval.
