Removes the $250,000 annual salary cap for the Superintendent of Education, allowing the board of education to set the salary without a maximum limit.

Requires the Superintendent of Education to undergo annual performance evaluations aligned with other department of education employee evaluations and based on outcomes determined by the board of education.

Allows the board of education to condition a portion of the Superintendent's salary on performance metrics.

Makes permanent the annual performance evaluation requirements for the Superintendent by repealing the sunset provision in Act 90, Session Laws of Hawaii 2014 that was scheduled to expire June 30, 2024.

Takes effect June 29, 2024.
