S.B. 615 Summary

• Requires each public school to maintain staff trained and authorized to administer epinephrine, with a minimum of one trained staff member per 100 students or one per floor of each school building, whichever is greater.

• Requires each public charter school to maintain staff trained and authorized to administer epinephrine under the same minimum staffing requirements as public schools.

• Mandates that all public and public charter schools display prominent, clearly legible signs in school buildings describing anaphylaxis symptoms and proper epinephrine administration methods.

• Directs the Department of Education to adopt rules to implement these requirements.

• Appropriates funds for fiscal years 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 to train public school and public charter school staff in epinephrine administration, effective July 1, 2023.
