HI SB666

Requires the State to plant fruit-bearing trees in new or renovated landscaping for state buildings, facilities, housing, public highways, and other projects that include trees, to the extent practicable.

Authorizes any person to harvest fruit from fruit trees planted under this section without requiring a permit or license, while preserving the State's authority to enforce trespassing laws.

Provides liability protection to the State and its political subdivisions, agencies, officials, and employees from civil damages or criminal penalties arising from injuries or illnesses related to harvesting or consuming fruit, including food-borne illnesses.
