HI SB831

Authorizes the Department of Agriculture to acquire, accept grants for, or purchase real, personal, or mixed property for immediate or future use within its mandate.

Adds a new subsection (10) to HRS § 141-1 granting the department authority to own, hold, improve, rehabilitate, and dispose of property through sale, assignment, exchange, transfer, conveyance, lease, or other encumbrance as deemed appropriate.

Enables the department to contract to acquire property interests necessary for carrying out its duties and purposes under the agriculture chapters.

Takes effect on June 30, 3000.
