Department of Land and Natural Resources requested to convene a working group to study wildfire risk reduction and feasibility of establishing a vegetation management program for landowners and public utilities

Working group directed to study policy, regulations, and guidance for vegetation management on public and private lands, and to evaluate property owner obligations for wildfire mitigation

Working group composition includes 17 members: Chairperson of Board of Land and Natural Resources (chair), legislative representatives, county mayors, utility representatives, University of Hawaii, invasive species council, and large landowners

Working group required to submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days prior to the 2025 Regular Session

Working group directed to dissolve on June 30, 2025
