Requests convening of a task force to research and develop a green highway program for Hawaii that addresses sustainability, environmental impact, and community quality of life.

Task force membership includes representatives from the Department of Transportation, Department of Land and Natural Resources, an arboriculture expert, and other subject matter experts selected by co-chairpersons appointed by the President of the Senate and Speaker of the House.

Task force directed to develop green highway standards addressing urban heat mitigation, stormwater retention, infrastructure aesthetics affecting tourism, and mental health benefits.

Task force required to examine best practices and examples from places that have successfully implemented green highway infrastructure.

Task force must submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2025 Regular Session convenes.
