Department of Education is requested to conduct a wellness visit for any child who has been removed from public school to be homeschooled.

School employees and officers are required by law to report suspected child abuse or neglect to the Department of Human Services or police department.

Parents may submit Form 4140 to withdraw students from school for reasons including disability, employment, family court orders, alternative education programs, or homeschooling.

Department of Education currently lacks an official process for the timing of wellness visits to homeschooled students, with visits occurring only when assessment tests are due in grades 3, 4, 5, 8, and 10.

Office of Student Support Services oversees education for homeschooled students; the Legislature requests information regarding the welfare of homeschooled students and services provided.
