Amends Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 302A-627 to require the Department of Education to recognize prior teaching experience for entering or reentering teachers at salary ratings equal to incumbent teachers with identical years of experience.

Removes any limit on the number of years of prior teaching experience the department must recognize, whether from in-state or out-of-state positions.

Maintains existing provision allowing teachers with military service to receive up to four years of credit toward salary and seniority, with each year or six months of military service counting as one year of teaching experience.

Takes effect on July 1, 3000.
