HB 1447 Summary

• Requires individual managing agents and employees of entity managing agents to obtain a license issued by the commission, effective on a date to be specified.

• Individuals must provide an application, fee, and proof of current certification as a Certified Manager of Community Associations, Association Management Specialist, or Professional Community Association Manager.

• Licensed individuals must act in accordance with the association's declaration, bylaws, rules and regulations, state laws, and county ordinances; and must intervene regarding misconduct by board members or unit owners as soon as reasonably practicable.

• Addresses the legislature's concern that existing law does not require managing agents to be familiar with condominium governance laws or governing documents, allowing them to act contrary to association documents to the detriment of associations and unit owners.
