Authorizes pay differentials for state and county public employees exposed temporarily to unusually hazardous working conditions, upon recommendation of the applicable department or agency director.

Pay differentials shall not exceed 25 percent of the minimum rate of the salary range and shall terminate six months after approval unless ended sooner.

Requests for renewal of pay differentials may be granted for periods no longer than six months at a time.

Pay differentials are subject to certification by respective fiscal officers regarding availability of funds.

Takes effect upon approval and adds new section to Chapter 78, Hawaii Revised Statutes.
