H.B. 367 Summary

• Exempts certain maintenance and repair work from county building permits when located outside special management areas, including like-for-like replacement of component parts without regard to material or labor value, provided no electrical, plumbing, or mechanical work is involved.

• Exempts Group U structures (uninhabited structures such as agricultural buildings, carports, sheds, garages, barns, and similar structures) not exceeding 1,000 square feet from permit requirements.

• Exempts interior remodeling work that does not affect building square footage, room or bathroom count, modify wall or window locations, or change the use of the structure.

• Requires owners and occupiers intending to perform exempt work on structures larger than specified thresholds (3,000 square feet for dwellings or 5,000 square feet for certain commercial structures) to submit plans and provide written notice to the county agency.

• Takes effect on July 1, 2050.
