HB 54 Summary

• Increases penalties for second excessive speeding offense within five years from 30-day license suspension to 90-180 day suspension with absolute driving prohibition.

• Elevates third or subsequent excessive speeding offense within five years from petty misdemeanor to misdemeanor, with 10-30 days jail time and 1-3 year license revocation.

• Authorizes vehicle forfeiture under chapter 712A for third or subsequent excessive speeding offense, at court's discretion.

• Requires individuals convicted of excessive speeding violations to undergo identification processing including fingerprinting and photographing per section 846-2.5(b).

• Effective July 1, 3000.
