Physicians practicing at organized ambulatory health care facilities are no longer required to hold hospital privileges at a licensed hospital in the same geographical location as the facility.

Written transfer agreements are no longer required to transfer patients from an organized ambulatory health care facilities to a licensed hospital.

Applies to organized ambulatory health care facilities as defined in section 323D-2 of Hawaii Revised Statutes.

Addresses Hawaii's healthcare provider shortage, particularly in rural areas and neighbor islands, by reducing administrative burdens on ambulatory facilities that serve medically underserved communities.

Takes effect upon approval.
