HI HCR164

Urges all four Hawaii counties to inventory designated emergency refuges and shelters and document their ability to withstand Category 1 hurricanes or higher.

Requires counties to publish electronic lists on government websites including facility name, address, hurricane category rating, capacity limits, pet-friendliness designation, and access/functional needs accommodations.

Mandates electronic lists include disclaimers that refuges and shelters may not be open during particular emergencies, as activation will be determined when an emergency is declared.

Urges each county to collaborate with the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency to publish a statewide list of shelters and refuge areas with their respective hurricane ratings.

Directs certified copies be sent to the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency and emergency management administrators for each county.
