Request the Department of Law Enforcement and Department of Transportation to jointly study the feasibility of establishing a highway patrol and installing speed cameras on major freeways and highways in areas with primary speeding concerns.

Study must include assessment of the impact such measures would have on district courts, including potential caseload and operational effects.

Resolution notes that speeding is the most common contributing factor in motor vehicle fatalities according to state traffic data and that local law enforcement agencies lack sufficient resources to address traffic safety issues within their jurisdictions.

Authorize transmission of certified copies of the resolution to the Director of Law Enforcement and Director of Transportation.
