Director of Transportation requested to establish the Makakilo Drive Extension Task Force to address delays in the Makakilo Drive Extension Project construction.

Task force composition includes the Transportation Director (chairperson), City and County of Honolulu Department of Planning and Permitting representative, Honolulu City Council Chairperson, one Senate member, one House member, local business community representative, five Makakilo residents, and other individuals as deemed necessary.

Task force directed to identify key challenges delaying construction, develop a comprehensive action plan, identify federal/state/private funding sources, engage community input, and evaluate issues impeding the project.

Task force required to submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2026 Regular Session convening.

Certified copies to be transmitted to the Director of Transportation, Mayor of Honolulu, and Honolulu City Council Chairperson.
