Requests health insurers and managed care providers operating in Hawaii to provide insurance coverage for prosthetic and orthotic devices

Notes that over 18,000 Hawaii residents with limb loss, limb differences, and mobility impairments face barriers to physical activities and daily functions due to insurance policies that deny access to activity-specific prosthetic and orthotic devices

Identifies that current single-device coverage limitations prevent individuals from engaging in running, cycling, swimming, and bathing, creating injury risks and health complications

States that comprehensive device coverage is needed to reduce preventable secondary health conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and obesity among individuals with disabilities

Directs certified copies be sent to the Insurance Commissioner and seven major health insurance providers operating in Hawaii including HMAA, HMSA, Kaiser, UnitedHealthcare, UHA, AlohaCare, and ʻOhana Health Plan
