Request the Department of Education, in collaboration with the Department of Health and State Public Charter School Commission, to conduct a study on heat exposure management practices in all department and charter schools during outdoor activities.

Study must examine the feasibility of using wet-bulb globe temperature as a standard for measuring heat stress in schools.

If existing practices are found insufficient, the Department must develop guidelines applicable to all schools covering sports practices, conditioning workouts, recess, marching band practice, JROTC activities, and other outdoor activities.

Required guideline components include hydration protocols, staff training on recognizing heat illness symptoms, protections for students with medical conditions affecting thermoregulation, and acclimatization procedures for students returning after absences.

Study with findings and recommendations due to the Legislature no later than 20 days before the 2026 Regular Session; any developed plan due no later than 20 days before the 2027 Regular Session.
