Requests health insurers and managed care providers operating in Hawaii to provide insurance coverage for prosthetic and orthotic devices.

Identifies approximately 18,000 Hawaii residents with limb loss, limb difference, and mobility impairments who currently face barriers to accessing activity-specific prosthetic and orthotic devices.

Notes that current insurance policies deny coverage for activity-specific devices such as running, cycling, swimming, or bathing prosthetics, forcing individuals to rely on single limited-mobility devices.

Identifies comprehensive device coverage as necessary to reduce preventable secondary health conditions including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and obesity among individuals with disabilities.

Directs certified copies be transmitted to the Insurance Commissioner and seven health insurance providers and managed care plans operating in Hawaii.
