• Requires food service industry employers to provide employees with an unpaid rest period of at least 30 consecutive minutes for every 5 consecutive hours of work.

• Defines "food service industry" to include restaurants, cafeterias, bars, catering services, and food trucks that produce, prepare, serve, or sell food or beverages to customers.

• Applies to all employees in the food service industry working shifts of 5 or more consecutive hours.

• Takes effect on July 1, 2050.
